Very, very happy for Luke. I first talked to him at a sth event in his first season. I had his military appreciation night jersey with me and he seemed actually surprised and touched that someone wanted a jersey with his name on it. We talked for about 15 minutes that night as he signed things and people came and went. Nice guy and level headed. I was impressed with him that night. As the season wore on he would see me in the crowd once in a while during warmups and nod or toss a puck. A hockey player remembered me, how cool is that?
I always thought it was wrong for GMJC to not resign him, his defensive play and strength on the boards is exactly what the team misses and needs. Skills that aren't measured in analytics mostly. Good for him that he managed to be in the right place at the right time and contribute. Same for Patty Maroon, another grinder who Doug Armstrong, GM of the Blues did not resign and was sorely missed this season. Another player misused by a GM who passed them over for the faster, flashier new guy.
Anyway, best thing out of this Tampa Bay Cup victory for me is seeing Luke Schenn and Pat Maroon lift it and celebrate. 2 good guys who got what was coming to them .
Entertaining read. Being a good person and teammate earns quality friends that can help one get through upsetting experiences.
It's a league-wide opinion on this guy.
Just have to be happy for the guy, and I am. Congrats Luke, enjoy it.

Luke Schenn is truly one of the good guys.
Lucky man.. His wife's a dimepiece.
This story made me happy. Wonder if he finds himself working in a front office once he’s done playing.
Ha! The braintrust of Stepan/Schenn.
